Enter the world of the jewellery and accessories flat lay

Whilst it's always a treat to see your favourite fashion jewellery and accessories worn on a beautiful model, since 2009 another form of representation has taken the centre stage when it comes to creatively portraying jewellery and accessories....enter the world of the jewellery and accessories flatlay.

The art of arranging things neatly likely began in 1987 when a janitor at a furniture fabrication shop began arranging displaced tools at right angles and started called this 'knolling', but in todays hip and modern world, the term 'flat lay' is used popularly and doesn't restrict itself to just laying down items at right angles.

Given the abundance of having my sample stock at hand with meticulously placed angling, celebrating this legendary style amateurishly, here it goes:

It looks a lot more fun than I'd like to let on, but that's important right, having fun!

I'm totally obsessed with blogger queen Margaret Zhang's flat lays especially the ones on her Instagram account. You've seen it, you've loved it and you can't enough of it.  Who would have thought that strategically laying accessories down could be such an appreciative art form?

At Lux Empress, we believe that the jewellery and accessories 'flat lay' is a powerful art form here to stay, we invite you to try and it and see for yourself.  Here's one more to tickle your fancy:

P.S. All of the jewellery and accessories featured in the flatlays are available for purchase on our online store.
